Father Nicodemos
I was born in Virginia, one of six boys. Raised Protestant, I attended both Protestant and Catholic services, but became concerned with their theology. I Discovered Orthodoxy through reading “The Way of the Pilgrim”, which led me to convert.
I was convinced Orthodoxy was the True Church, because people really worked on themselves, and were transformed by Christ. I joined a ROCOR parish, when they were the standard for Orthodox Christianity and truth.
I married Lydia, who has a master’s in microbiology. We have three children: a nun, an Army JAG lawyer, and a teacher/author/stay-at-home mom.
I was ordained a deacon in ’91 and a priest in ’92. St. Seraphim Parish began in our living room, eventually moving to an old house we transformed into a beautiful, icon-filled church.
My background is in mental health and substance abuse. I directed treatment programs for children, worked in juvenile detention, and taught psychology at a community college for 12 years.
Father Andrew
I was raised Roman Catholic in Phoenix, Arizona. In high school, I began searching for the one true church of our Lord, after experiencing the modernism and secularism of the Roman Catholic church. I visited a monastery while in college and became a catechumen. I was baptized into the Church on Christmas Eve 2008 at the Cathedral of St Markella in Astoria, NY.
After college, my wife and I moved to the Richmond, Virginia area, and began attending St Seraphim’s. On the feast of St Parthenios, 2014, I was ordained a deacon. I served the parish for nine years, and I was ordained to the holy priesthood by Metropolitan Demetrius on the feast of St Seraphim, 2024.
I am blessed to have my wife, Anna, and my two daughters support my ministry in the Church. I am also a registered nurse caring for patients in an interventional pain clinic.
Metropolitan Demetrius
I grew up in a loving family in Toronto with my parents, Constantine and Chrysoula, who instilled the love of Christ in me. I’m the youngest of three siblings.
My journey began after spending time in the Holy Land and on Mount Athos. In ’94, I joined the Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration and took the name Demetrius, honoring the Great Martyr. I was ordained a deacon in ’99, a priest in ’05, and a bishop in ’06.
In September 2012, I was welcomed into the Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece and elected Bishop of Boston. On April 28, 2014, I was enthroned as Metropolitan of America at the Cathedral of Saint Markella in Astoria, New York.
In 2015, I founded a monastery dedicated to St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco, which holds many precious relics and serves as my residence.
